**************************************************************************************************** Speaker
Our speaker for the evening was Peter Berry of BPJ Services and The Thames Innovation Centre.
His topic was :
“Thinking about YOUR Business”
- Some simple ideas to get you started and think about your business a different way.
For this Peter drew on his experience as a Business Advisor as part of trying to have clients engage in the advisory process and started by saying that being a Business Advisor is really an easy activity as all he has to do is to get people Thinking.
He chose a number of relatively simple ideas to get you to think about your business. He believed they seemed to work well in practice and he shared them with us to enable a different view on our business thinking and to see ourselves and others in a different way.
Here is a list of the ideas, loosely linked and intertwined:
“Scripts / practice / verbalise” “Sell the Benefits not the Features” “People buy People” “Get the Meeting” “Dress to meet the clients expectations” “Sherlock Holmes technique” “Signposting “ “Make human nature work for you” “ABC principle” “Counter Objections” “Networking is all about Awareness” “A Pebble dropped into a Pond” “4 Questions” – What does my client look like? – Where are they? – How do they find me? – How do I find them? “Pricing is not a fixed feature” “Use Written Specifications” “Businesses do not plan to fail but they do fail to plan”. “What is a Business Plan” “The ART Gallery” ”The ROUTE Map”
Only a list but a lot of thought provoking content was added to flesh out these ideas.
So there you have it – a montage of thought provoking simple ideas that everyone can use and modify to suit your requirements.
Hopefully this will encourage you to become more engaged with your own business and these simple ideas get you started and
“Thinking about YOUR Business”
